Half of combat deaths since WWII have been have been from bleeding out. This new tool will allow soldiers and EMS to almost instantly stop major bleeding. The tool works by forcing a bunch of small tablets into an entry wound, once the tablets are in the wound, they expand into a clot to stop the bleeding. This simple yet effective technology has already saved lives on and off the battlefield.

Orbotix Ollie

Image result for orbotix ollie review

One of the newest upcoming Sphero robots is the Orbotix Ollie. This little robot can go up to 14 mph. I think that the Ollie bot would be a good investment for the library. I could see a lot of fun coming from the Ollie bot. Image result for orbotix ollie

The Atlas Robot

Atlas is a high mobility, humanized robot designed to negotiate outdoor, rough terrain.  Atlas can walk upright leaving the arms free to lift, carry, and use the environment. In challenging terrain, Atlas is strong enough to climb using hands and feet, to pick its way through congested spaces. Sensitive hand attachments allow for the robot to do more human activities than anybody thought possible. The robots from Boston Dynamics are the worlds leading technology builders and will probably be the next to continue on the robot frontier.

IT in Action, Solving Work Orders

At Henry County High School the work orders are never ending. I just did a work order for Mrs. Toy, she couldn’t log into the computer because Mr. Smith had it locked. To solve this problem I switched users and logged into the computer as Destiny(the library’s login) and got it to work. Next Mrs. Toy had instructions to play a video that was on http://www.documentary.com; the websites url was blocked by an administator overseeing the network at HCHS. To solve this problem I simply looked the documentary up on YouTube. This is one of the many examples of work orders IT guys go through on a daily basis.Image result for it guys

Makey Makey At HCHS IT Desk

Makey Makey is one of the new robots we have received here at the Henry County High School IT Desk. Makey Makey is a an invention kit from the 21st century. Turn everyday objects into and combine them with the internet. A already pre-programmed robot it is ready to go out of the box. I’ve played with Makey Makey multiple times and you can do just about anything with this small but unique robot. Makey Makey is one of my new favorite robots in the library. -__- Matthew Sharp

Why Are Robots the Future?

Robots are all around us, they’re in our houses, communities and all around the world. Robots allow people to do things never thought imaginable as well as taking over jobs once worked by human beings. Everyday items that you use were probably made by robots. Take for instance your car, it was made by robots almost completely. Robots are the future in bettering our world.robots

Top 5 Tips for Staying Safe on Public WiFI

Public WiFi such as the type of WiFi you get onto at your local McDonalds, Starbucks or even school can be a very dangerous place to lose a lot of private information due to local hackers. You can prevent yourself a little bit by following these 5 secure tips.

  1. Primarily look only on sites with https, HTTPS gives verification that the page has a digital certificate and up to date SSL/TLS encryption. Image result for https
  2. Manually Select the WiFi network, the provides that there is no automatic connection when you are in range of said public networks.
  3. Use additional security tools such as Tor,VPNs and DoNotTrack.
  4. Always logout of the network before you leave the place, this insures you’re completely disconnected from the network.
  5. Patching and updating software on a regular basis is an essential security practice, this ensures that all hack-able holes in your digital system are closed and that hackers cannot reach into your personal information.  Image result for software patching
